Perceptions

All the subliminal things that were poured into us as children, are perculating up as dissatisfactions when we´re adults.

Here´s just a minor one:

"Davey, Davey Crockett. King of the wild frontier."

I sang that repeatedly when I was a child.
Assuming that two mutually exclusive ideas could coexist in one concept.
And on the surface, it seemed that Davey was ´master of all he surveyed´; and he seemed to tramp through enough forests to satisfy my concept of wild frontier.
But wild actually means lawless. And the frontier was the leading edge of civilization, the demarcation between order and chaos. A grey area of mostly chaos, with only rudimentary incursions of order.
Neither lawlessness nor chaos could foster a kingship. And yet I blithely was led to believe that one man independent could be a king. Of what? Of himself, and every place he trod his foot?
What arrogance was fostered then? What presumption, and superiority over Nature was developed from that? What disregard for Whom may have granted stewardship?
From such little seeds, mighty oaks grow. With branches that obscure our motivations.

There was an experiment some years ago where they took a notebook size white square and mounted it upright with a string through its axis so that it would rotate. They placed the square into a black box, and put a spotlight on it. When the lights in the room were left on, the rotation of the square was obvious. But when only the spotlight was on the square, it gave the optical illusion of flip-flopping back and forth. Even when the subject knew the square was rotating, the eye was fooled and insisted that it only went left, then right. They tested many people with this, and it wasn´t until it was tried on an african tribe, that they found a people who saw the rotation, no matter what.
What they found that was different in this people was that their culture and environment had no right angles!
So from this small, unexamined type of conditioning, brains were programmed in such a way, that expressed itself in being fooled by an optical illusion. What other conditionings are in us that keep us from seeing things as they really are?

Examine everything.

Drifting a bit here...but I remember thinking once how my perceptions of my identity of myself is based on vision.

Or more accurately, on the lack of it.

I find that my ´self´ is anchored in the observer ´looking´ out through my eyes.
Much like looking out a window. But with the room behind me taken for granted, all the ´action´ occurring out the window.

My ´self´ is that blank spot that resides on the opposite side of perception. I look out, and orient myself by the blind spot behind me. Now I know through akido, I can ´see´, or be aware in a 360 circle; but I still have that blank spot as a frame of reference of ´where´ I am.

To put it another way, I was wondering if an experiment could be done to hook up a 360 degree visual input to the optic nerve; and what would happen if you were ´all´ observation, without that ´blank spot´ where your ´observer self´ resided. Would you lose sense of ´self´, because at that point you wouldn´t have a separation of observer and observed? You´d be ´all´ observation.

Do blind people have an equivalent ´blank spot´ as a frame of reference?

I know we´re actually ´centered´ in our belly, but I was thinking more in terms of the ´observer´ identity.

Oh yeah, is the glass half empty or half full?

If you're pouring into it, it's half full.

If you're drinking out of it, it's half empty.

Its state depends on the action being performed upon it.

Its nature is that of a container. Containing to its limit. Its fufillment is that of being full. Therefore half full would be more in alignment with its intended state of being.

Mundus Vult Decepi ...
Now we're treading on the ground that's called the Mystery of Evil.
And borrowing from others' previous posts --
about the Veil.
The World (in contrast to using terms like, 'the Planet', or the Cosmos, or the Population), as I use the term, always represents ground under control by the enemy; and that of course presumes that there is a war ongoing. In my cosmology, it's a constant war that is building to a conclusion.
As a component of that war: as many people as there are as active participants on both sides -- there are many that are inactive -- who fall to the enemy by default.
It takes ACTIVE resistance to stay out of the enemy's camp...the near automatic capture of humans is achieved by the Veil that grows as we grow (one of the results of the curse at the Fall),
and by the time of the age of maturity is reached, it constructs a spiritual blindness that is painted with illusions from this 'World'.
This familiar background, just like in the Matrix,
is preferable over Reality...if there are cracks in the System, it's smoothed right over, usually by the observer themselves...most are so comfortable in the World -- they reject any intrusions; they willingly acquiesced to the illusion...
[And this is not just from one world view...you can find true threads running through several different trains of Thought (the Creator left hints all over)...from the philosophy that states that All/Everything is illusion...to the view that 'material' Reality is contaminated with the leavening of illusion.]
The Veil is culturally universal in one form or another...
(Look at how Sadman Insane of Eyerock defied the Western world...how could he win? Hummm...for a very strange hint, look at the farmer's hut where he was found...and on the wall, for a brief moment, there was shown a painting of Noah's Ark, and a figure in white silhouette reaching up to it...)(what webs did he weave to trap himself?...)
This desire to be a part of this World system, when you climb up into the upper levels of its workings, forces a blindness to everything except whatever the consensus of reality is, between TPTB and their masters. Eat or be eaten. (read Screwtape Letters). The strong control the weak. Humans are little spiritual generators that evil forces feed upon. That is actuality...what they tell themselves to justify what they do passes being monsterous...
(I had my face rubbed in that 'consensus of reality' when I was in the military, in such a way that 'woke' me up.
Once upon a time, a general -- General Westmoreland -- was flying high over our base on a fine saturday, on his way to an airport
somewhere in the southern part of that state.
High in the sky, mind you.
And in some flunky's paranoid mind, the image of the General looking down from thousands of feet and spying that our lawn in front of the barracks might be a regulation-breaking inch too long -- was too much for him to deal with alone...but being an officer -- he had the power of 'Instant Minions' to create a solution to his imaginary problem.
We were rounded up and put into two rows...And he addressed us, his minions, as the front row would get on hands and knees, and
plucking furiously, would become now lawnmowers...(it being a fine saturday, the supply sergeant, with his keys to sheds with things like 'real' lawnmowers...was not to be found)(sergeants don't give a fig about generals, whether in the sky or not...to make things work, they're allowed to work relatively unmolested in reality)...And the next row of men were dubbed 'rakes' -- and on hands and knees would follow behind the 'lawnmowers', picking up whatever blade escaped the clutches of the fleshly weedeaters...
Right as the front row headed towards the ground, I stepped out of the second row, and started walking briskly back to the barracks... and to the officer, threw a quick -- "wait right there, I gotta go get my camera!..."...)
I saw it as a microcosm: how the one in power determines and asserts the rules of reality; and how that view held together and became 'real', by everyone going along with it and acting upon it.
For me, it was an epiphany -- I saw ripples of that 'consensus of reality' spreading out from multiple sources, covering the world in overlapping patterns: pushed along at nexis points by beings of evil, woven into the fabric of everything...the Strongest controlling even the most trivial of rules as their Will trickled down...(they controlled the language of memes...in this war, they censored out concepts by control of the language...redemption relegated to meaning the cashing in of stamps...salvation in physical remedies...servatude equated with slavery...humility confused with weakness and meekness...meekness became spineless surrender...and on and on)...the Veil blocking what words really meant -- blocking the entire True sight of the spiritual realm. (Why the Veil was allowed, has to do with the Fall, and the knowledge of Evil)...
I was horrified...I wanted no part of it...
It was then that the veil started to lift...or wear thin in spots...
It's only in later 'seeing' that I saw how much impact 'going along with the World' affected the lies people tell themselves...to continue functioning, they must keep lying...
Think upon the Mystery of Evil...even when It knows the ultimate outcome (Unless your world view has endless Cycles, continuing infinitely; or an Eternal Balance...)...the dissolution of Evil...Its eventual nonexistence...Why does Evil persist, when It knows it will fail?...how does it inspire those at the pinnacle -- those who know the shaping and how the battlefield is laid out?...
Part of the seeds of that persistence has its genesis in the Origin of Evil...the allowance to choose...the opportunity to reject...to re-prioritize everything in the light of the individual's wisdom, not the Creator's...
The World -- the World System -- wants to be decieved...
The alternative -- is True Reality --
And the two are mutually exclusive...
I wanted nothing more than to be left alone...but found that the World was capturing me at every turn...I would rebel and run...but was continually being sucked in...because I had no proper defense...I was fighting higher powers than some minor god of bureaucrats...

***Might being human be pure potential, with no limits to the realities that may be produced?
Or might it be a pre-established path, a lineage that determines ones future?***
<<<Being human might be pure potential, with some hedges, but infinitely expanding production of realities along pre-established paths>>>

The human potential is bounded by whatever was built into his design...since his design was to live in close conjunction with the Creator...potentially limitless production of realities is likely when we operate with Him...judging by how creative our stunted abilities are now...our future probably would be involved with the creation process...(Seeing that the Creator's name given to us means 'He who becomes...'; and one of His prime attributes is Calling something out of nothing...He causes something to come to Be......And if we are to become as He is....the inference is that we are little creators-in-training)

As far as a pre-established path goes -- in a timeless-eternal state, the concept of 'pre-established' loses meaning...And certain lineages might have certain determined futures, but only in the results of those futures, and probably not in the particular individuals...if one drops his duty - there will always be another one there to pick it up..."if not you, then another"...And this skirts the issue of predestination and predeterminism...(hint: foresight does not invalidate free choice...)

***Is being human a gift (from the creator)?***
Yes it is, because only humans, of all the creatures in creation, are said to have the opportunity to be elevated to a position of exercising the prerogatives of divinity...if they're one with the Creator...
***Is it a curse (slave race)?***
We're under a curse, which clouds the issue; but created as a servant race, makes us easily slaves under the improper owner...
***Or, other?***
The only 'other' I can think of is as independent agents...but everything I see precludes that...

***Or is it simply a manifestation of belief, living out life,
maturing views to offer a learned soul for harvest (the next generation)?***
This is how it works out in day-to-day life, we have faith...and we pass what we feel are our True Seeings onto our prodigny...waiting for the culmunation...

***Are we The Means, The End or Other?***
He says we are the means by which the angels are instructed in the demonstration of what His attribute of Love is...whatever else we may be the means -- perhaps the uplift of the animal kingdom....probibly the means of other unknown things being accomplished...either now, unknowingly - or later in eternity, knowingly....

As to being the be-all-and-end-all of creation...who knows....but as far as we know -- going from the lowest form of creation - 3D mudmen -- to union with the Divine as the highest...so far, ethnocentrically, we look like the 'Reason For' creation; at least in this cycle...After the new heavens and new earth - who knows....But we don't know what other parts other creatures play....

And as for Other-- what a dismal mess we've left ourselves...every generation saying that this time it'll be different, we'll get it right this time, we've learned from our history, we've evolved...and that Hope that we inherited from our Creator, misapplied to our earthly situation...keeps us self-deceived...plugging along, going from bad to worse...The more you begin to See, the more you perceive how very wrong our Human path has strayed...

***Yes, there is, and it works with our neighbors as well. The gut feeling tempered by keen observation.***

Or more reliably -- discernment, gained by gift from the Creator, and developed through practice and knowledge. As gift from the Creator it bypasses the Veil...

***What is a soul? How does it differ, if at all, from spirit?***
***What determines who has a soul and who does not? Do you have to have a soul to be human? If you don't have a soul, are you not human? If you do have a soul, are you automatically human? Does having a soul and being human have anything to do with good and evil, with service to others or service to self, with our Creator?***

Soul is the component in man that was built in when created...all other creatures were made by declarative fiat (in the case of angels) or brought forth by decree (as in the rise of life on this planet) -- but Man had the breath of God imparted to him...which made his creation and his make-up more connected with the Creator, and that component of potential of being a creature of material and of spiritual nature is called the soul...The spirit being a direct component from the Creator (as He is the author of all things spiritual), a true spirit can only come from and be sustained continuously by that Creator...it's said that only with a connection to the Creator can it be said that a human has a 'real' spirit -- in as much as the Creator is the Source of Reality...
Soul is analogous to a battery, where spirit is the electrical charge in it. Soul is where reason and emotion reside; the semi-permeable membrane between the physical world and the spiritual; the interface between linear entropy and the eternal verities.
So the soul is the part of the nature of Man that can contain a spirit...the nature of the spirit that is in Man is determined by his allegiance/rebellion to the Creator.

***How different can we be from one another and still retain a relationship as children of God? My inclination is highly inclusive.***

Look at the variety that is in material creation...extrapolate from that...

consensus of reality is neither a good thing or bad thing in and of itself...the bent of the members determines its flavor...
However, this materialistic World ('time is money') attracts Users, who rise to positions of power, and enforces their stamp upon the direction that 'consensus' is going towards...The more materialistic the members are -- the tighter the grip those on the top have upon them. The Users control the raw materials of their reality, the rules, the enforcements, and the rankings & privileges of membership.
This was attempted in the 60's...unhooking from TPTB who were defining what human life consisted of...
To be in the World, but not part of it...was not just a matter of simple rejection -- it had to have a replacement framework in which to survive and thrive...
Well, the material world had the hedge on controlling how you could get around it...and at every turn either subsumed or eradicated any competition...
Only a framework not based on material things could compete...
A cosmology strong enough to sustain its members...
And if not insulate its members from the dominate World View, it would at least protect them...
